Julian Gomez-Giraldo is the new Artistic Director of the Spokane Youth Symphony. After a search lasting almost a year, attracting over 40 qualified applicants from all over the world, and flying two finalists in from Boston and Sydney, Australia, Gomez-Giraldo was chosen to replace Verne Windham, who retired after 15 years with the Youth Symphony.
The Spokane Youth Symphony’s 2011-2012 Season will be its 62nd and titled “Happily Ever After”, in reference to both Windham’s departure and the literary element complimenting the performances at The Fox. Original written works by local writers will be created to fit the musical selections.
The season begins on November 6 with “The Story Begins”, followed by “Far, Far Away” on January 22, 2012, “Into Our Imagination”, April 22, and “Beyond the Rainbow” on May 20, 1012.
