The Cornell University Department of music invites applications for the position of director of choral music and assistant/associate professor (full-time, tenure-track). The appointment will commence July 1, 2013.Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in music or demonstrate equivalent professional achievement. In addition to outstanding qualifications as a choral conductor, the successful candidate is expected to possess musical and intellectual breadth compatible with the goals of a major research university, as well as the requisite administrative experience and artistic vision for guiding Cornell’s extensive choral program, with its existing performing organizations. Additional nontraditional and or non-Western choral ensembles are possible, depending on the successful candidate’s strengths and interests. Experience in classroom teaching is also desirable. Duties will include directing choral ensembles, supervising Cornell’s choral program, advising students, and engaging in service within the Department and the University.
