Cornell Symphony Orchestra and Cornell Chamber Orchestra concert

On October 3rd at 8 pm, Both Cornell Chamber Orchestra and Cornell Symphony Orchestra will open the 2009-2010 season with a joint concert in Bailey Hall on the campus of Cornell University.  Program will feature Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals on the first half with the CCO.  Narrator Graeme Bailey will be joined by soloists Blaise Bryski and Miri Yampolsky.  There will also be four new animals featured along side Saint-Saens’ animals.  Cornell DMA candidate composers Peter Fahey, Takuma Itoh and Zachary Wadsworth have written new music for the occasion and also Max Shuhan a 12 year old composer will be featured.

The Cornell Symphony Orchestra will be featured on the second half of the program.  Thanks to the Meet the Composer’s New Partnership program Kristin Kuster will be a resident composer for the week.  Her work Beneath This Stone will be performed by the Cornell Symphony.

The program will finish with Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, also narrated by Graeme Bailey.

The concert is free and open to the public.
