The Philadelphia Orchestra opens its 2009-2010 season on Saturday night with special performances and special guests.

Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, conducted by chief conductor Charles Dutoit and with guest star 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin (above), is the highlight of Saturday’s night season opening of the Orchestra. Frank P. Slattery Jr. is executive director of the Philadelphia Orchestra:

“Alec Baldwin is pretty terrific. He actually appears with the Orchestra in Saratoga this summer and I had a chance to listen to him and he is quite amazing.”

Roman Carnival Overture by Berlioz and Saint Saens’s Symphony Number 3 in C minor on the Kimmel’s magnificent organ will round out the program.
