MUSIC DIRECTOR/SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR – Metropolitan Youth Symphony. The MYS Music Director is responsible for the artistic operation and development of MYS orchestras, bands and ensembles, enabling students to achieve musical excellence. The Music Director conducts weekly rehearsals and conducts performances for the Symphony Orchestra and one mid-level group, and serves as the primary artistic liaison within the community. The Music Director oversees repertoire and program scheduling for the organization; hires and oversees MYS conductors (currently a team of nine); auditions new students; participates in fund raising, community outreach and student recruitment; develops relationships with parents and students, public and private educators, professional musicians and the media, and reports monthly to the board of directors.
