Vancouver, BC ~ The UBC School of Music is pleased to announce appointments of three full-time Assistant Professors: pianist Mark Anderson, conductor Jonathan Girard, and musicologist Hedy Law. Jesse Read, former Director of the UBC School of Music and conductor of the UBC Symphony Orchestra is enthusiastic to welcome Girard to UBC. “After many years at the helm of the UBC Symphony Orchestra, it has been a distinct pleasure for me to participate in an intensive year-long search to fill this position and we’re looking forward to his dynamic, inspirational leadership as he assumes the post. Not only does Jonathan Girard bring a wealth of musical experience and creative and imaginative programming to the position, he will begin to interact with colleagues to develop a long-awaited graduate program in instrumental conducting.”
