CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA Position: Music Director/Conductor of the All University Orchestra (AUO).

Position:  Music Director/Conductor of the All University Orchestra (AUO).   The orchestra is a non-major orchestra designed for students outside of the School of Music. Responsibilities:  Program one concert each semester, typically held in November and April;  lead sectionals on Sunday from 6:30-7:20 P.M., followed by full orchestra rehearsals from 7:30-10:00 P.M.  Along with the full orchestra, the conductor will be responsible for the programming and rehearsing of a small  string ensemble, String Theory. This ensemble rehearses on  Saturday afternoons from 3:00-5:00 P.M. and performs in concert with the full orchestra.  String Theory concerts can be programmed and are encouraged.  Other duties include holding auditions for principal positions and overseeing the organization of a student board of directors.  Qualifications:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in music-Master’s degree in music; conducting is highly encouraged.  Experience conducting advanced high school or college-level orchestras.
