BALL STATE UNIVERSITY (BSU), MUNCIE, INDIANA Position: Director of Orchestras

Position:  Director of Orchestras.  Tenure-track.  Responsibilities:  Conduct and provide artistic direction for the Ball State Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra; teach graduate and undergraduate conducting.  Through a separate contract, the successful candidate may also be offered the position of conductor and artistic director of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra.  Qualifications:  (Minimum :)  Completed master’s degree in music or an artist diploma and a documented history of professional activity as an orchestral conductor.  (Preferred :)  Completed doctoral degree; demonstrated ability to recruit and retain quality students on the collegiate level; exceptional performance/scholarly background; substantial experience in conducting with high-level ensembles; performing ability on an orchestral instrument (or piano/organ).  Rank:  Assistant or Associate Professor of Music Performance.  Begin:  Aug. 16, 2013.  Deadline:  Review is on-going; position is open until filled.  Submit:  Cover letter, curriculum vitae, 20-30 minute conducting DVD (rehearsal and performance), three current reference letters, and a certified transcript copy of the highest degree earned.  Other supporting materials may be included with the application; all materials will be retained.  Send to:  Chair, Director of Orchestra Search Committee, School of Music, Ball State University, Muncie, IN 47306.  Visit the web-site: (  Inquiries:  Send to Dr. John W.
