HEIGHTS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (HCO), CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OHIO
Position: Music Director. The HCO is a well-established orchestra currently celebrating its 30th season. The 45 musicians typically perform four or five concerts per season in the Greater Cleveland area. The HCO performs 18th, 19th and 20th century traditional “classical” music on modern instruments, but does not play pops music and very rarely contemporary music. Rehearsals are held on Mondays and concerts (on Sundays) are scheduled during September through November and January through early May. Candidates will be invited to conduct a concert series during the 2013-14 season. Responsibilities: The Music Director is responsible for conducting all, or a majority, of the concerts and related rehearsals. He/she should have the ability to interpret music in an expressive and stylistically-appropriate manner and the ability to communicate with the musicians in a respectful way while making efficient use of the rehearsal time. Qualifications: In addition to experience as a conductor and also as a music director, the successful candidate should have a willingness to promote the orchestra and to participate in other non-musical activities related to the orchestra is desired.
