Founded in 1822, the Royal Academy of Music has a distinguished history and a reputation as one of the world’s leading conservatoires. We are seeking to appoint a new Head of Conducting to succeed the distinguished pedagogue Colin Metters from September 2013. The successful applicant will have the vision and ambition to undertake the leading role in sustaining and developing the outstanding educational and artistic successes of the department.
You will be a musician of the highest calibre, with a national/international reputation as a conductor and/or a teacher with evidence of significant artistic leadership in the profession. In addition, you will have the potential for charismatic leadership, working closely with colleagues throughout the Academy to develop the educational experience of students. You will also be an effective advocate externally for the department and the Academy within both the music profession and the music education sector.
