Job Summary Assistant Professor – Strings/Orchestra – Teach undergraduate and graduate applied strings and string methods classes. Provide excellent customer service.  
Job Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate applied strings and string methods classes. Recruit and build a string and orchestra program for the university. Direct the University Orchestra (currently integrated with the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra). Additional duties may be required based on the needs of the department and qualifications of the candidate.  
Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree Required from a regionally accredited institution or university. Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of music from a regionally accredited institution or university required. Strong string teaching and performing ability. Ability to conduct and direct a Community and University symphony orchestra. Evidence of a strong ability to recruit and retain quality string majors and orchestra students. Ability to teach in other areas as needed by the department.  
Preferred Qualifications Doctorate in music from a regionally accredited institution or university.  
Special Instructions to Applicants RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor with a Doctorate Degree, Tenure track; Instructor with a Master’s Degree, Non-Tenure track. Salary commensurate with rank, qualifications and experience.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Texas A&M University-Kingsville is part of the Texas A&M University System. Located 40 miles from Corpus Christi and 120 miles north of Brownsville, Texas A&M University-Kingsville is a rapidly growing Carnegie Research Level 2 institution of 7,400 students offering doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees. The student body reflects the ethnic diversity of South Texas with approximately 65% of the student body being of Hispanic origin.
