APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED Brahms Symposium & Masterclass March 29, 2014, Seattle

Brahms Symposium & Masterclass
March 29, 2014Seattle
Choral Arts is pleased to present a Brahms Symposium & Masterclass in collaboration with the University of Washington School of Music.
Investigation of how Brahms wished his most famous choral work – Ein deutsches Requiem – to be performed is a recent endeavor. This symposium will explore the performance practices that Brahms employed when playing his chamber music and consider how they might be applied to the Requiem. We will also consider the recollections of Brahms’s performances of this masterpiece left to us by the choral conductor Siegfried Ochs.
Applications are now being accepted for graduate level choral conductors to participate in a day-long symposium and masterclass to be held in Seattle on March 29, 2014.

Chosen conductors will have the opportunity to work with Choral Arts’ Conductor & University of Missouri at Kansas City Director of Choral Activities Dr. Robert Bode, University of Washington Director of Choral Activities Dr. Geoffrey Boers, University of Washington professor and Brahms scholar Dr. George Bozarth, and nationally acclaimed choral ensemble Choral Arts.

Four symposium fellows will be selected, each receiving two, 30-minute video taped podium sessions. Applications must be received by December 15, 2013.
