The Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific is looking for a Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor to serve as the Conductor of the University Symphony Orchestra for the Spring 2014 semester. The position is a sabbatical replacement for the current conductor and is a visiting, non-continuing appointment. 

Responsibilities: Conduct and administer the University Symphony Orchestra, and teach a conducting class. In the spring semester the orchestra will present two concerts and will also accompany the opera theatre in a fully-staged opera production. Other assignments possible, depending on the successful candidates background and experience.

The Conservatory of Music at The University of the Pacific is located in Stockton, CA, and is the first conservatory on the West Coast, having been founded in 1878. It has 22 full-time faculty, and approximately 18 adjunct faculty, who serve a population of about 205 undergraduates and 25 graduate students.

The Conservatory offers professional undergraduate degrees (BM) in all classical instruments (with the exception of harp), composition, music history, music therapy, music management, music education, as well as a BAs in general music, in music management, and in jazz studies.  We also offer masters degrees in music therapy and music education. Preferred Qualifications:
Earned advanced degree in music.
Experience as an orchestra conductor at the collegiate level. 
Experience teaching conducting at the collegiate level.
