Music Director / Conductor Search The Bakersfield (CA) Symphony Orchestra
The Bakersfield (CA) Symphony Orchestra is seeking applications and nominations for a conductor/music director to assume leadership of the orchestra beginning with the 2015-16 season. The Orchestra, currently in its 81st season, annually performs six subscription concerts along with six young peoples programs, six performances of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet, and two or three special performances. Applicants should have demonstrated success in leading a professional ensemble in repertoire that spans orchestral literature from the Baroque to the 21st century. The director will be well versed in major choral works and operatic selections, have successfully collaborated with highly accomplished soloists in the concerto repertoire, and exhibited skills in imaginative programming. S/he will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the vision to foster the continued artistic growth of the orchestra.
Applications will include a letter of personal interest and brief resume from the candidate. Supportive materials should include printed programs they have conducted, along with names and contact information for at least three professional references. No phone inquiries or DVD performance discs at this time. Further supportive materials, such as DVD recordings, may be requested at a later time.
Applications should be submitted no later than August 15, 2013, and addressed to:
