WEEKEND CONDUCTING MASTERCLASS IN LONDON, UK – with Peter Fender and the South London Sinfonietta

Sat 15 Feb 11:00-21:00 & Sun 16 Feb 10:00-17:00

On this intense but supportive weekend we firstly work with a professional pianist in preparation for the orchestra on the second day. The orchestra is the SouthLondon Sinfonietta – a flexible-sized professional group from London. This course is not suitable for beginners, but observers are welcome at a reduced rate. Observers can have a short session at conducting one of the pieces with the orchestra (should they wish).

Each person receives help and advice appropriate to their skill and experience. Subjects covered will include technique, musical interpretation, communication, how to manage an orchestra, and conducting psychology. We work in depth on relatively small amounts of repertoire. Towards the end of the Sunday we give a short ‘performance’ where every student conducts (with orchestra) a section of the music studied during the course.
