Conducting Tchaikovsky
with Maestro Alexander Polyanichko

St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic
February 26 – March 1, 2014
Final Concert, March 1, 7 PM
Yaani Kirik Concert Hall, Dekabristov 54, Russia

The St. PCP welcomes a new guest to its distinguished list of guest masterclass teachers, the internationally renowned conductor and teacher Alexander Polyanichko. Widely known for his masterful interpretation of the Russian literature, this class represents a rare opportunity for 10 young conductors from all over the world to study two musical pillars of the repertoire by Tchaikovsky.

Five days of classes and a final concert, February 25 through March 1, 2014. In order to maximize podium time, the class is limited to only 10 advanced participants (and up to 4 observers) who will be invited to work with Maestro Polyanichko. The workshop will include score study sessions, conducting sessions with two pianos, conducting sessions with the orchestra, and a final concert. All sessions will be videotaped. The students of the class (at Maestro Polyanichko’s discretion) will be featured on the final concert as part of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic’s 2013-2014 concert season. Each participant will receive significant podium time with two pianos and with the orchestra, as well as a certificate of participation. There will be room for up to 4 observers to be accepted. Maestro Polyanichko will provide a 60-minute meeting time with the observers for open discussion.
