UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK Position:  Director, Maryland Opera Studio (MOS).  Tenure track.  Responsibilities:  (1) Conduct at least one full Opera production per year.  (2)  Coach MOS students for productions, scenes, and recitals in various languages and styles.  (3)  Teach classes specific to his/her areas of expertise and help to mentor students in the collaborative piano program.  (4)  Set policies and procedures for MOS in collaboration with the Associate Director of MOS.  (5)  Oversee the MOS curriculum in collaboration with the Associate Director of MOS.  (6)  Choose repertoire for productions, scenes, new readings, concerts in collaboration with the faculty of the Voice/Opera Division and the School of Music.  (7)  Collaborate with faculty of the Voice/Opera Division on MOS admissions decisions and recruitment of students.  (8)  Coordinate performance scheduling with the School of Music administration,  the Performing Arts Center staff and other conducting faculty.  (9)  Collaborate with the Director of the School of Music on budget matters and the hiring of guest artists and adjunct faculty.  (10)  Pursue other creative activities and/or research interests in the field.  (11)  Collaborate with stage directors in the realization of the dramatic and theatrical aspects of opera production.  (12)  Participate fully in a collaborative and collegial community of faculty students, staff and administration.  The Direct of MOS must be willing and available to meet these responsibilities on a regular and ongoing basis.  Qualifications:  The School of Music seeks a candidate with an established national/international reputation with significant experience in opera conducting, coaching and teaching.  An advanced degree in music and/or commensurate professional experience is preferred.  Rank:  Assistant/Associate Professor.  Begin:  August, 2014.  Deadline:  For best consideration, please apply by Jan. 10, 2014;  review of submissions begins on that date and will continue until a successful candidate is named.  Submit:  A cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and names of at least three references with accompanying current contact information, including:  address, telephone, and E-mail address.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE.  Send to:  (; click on FACULTY and look for position #104282.  Please do not send any other supporting material unless requested.  The University of Maryland, College Park, actively subscribes to a policy of equal employment opportunity and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, ancestry or national origin, mental status, genetic information, political affiliation, and gender identity or expression.  Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.  LINKS:  (,  ( or (
