PIERRE MONTEUX SCHOOL, HANCOCK, MAINE

 

The 71st season of this program will run from June 16 through July 27, 2014.  Faculty will include Michael Jinbo, Music Director; David Alexander Rahbee, Conducting Associate.  This is an intensive training program for conductors and orchestra musicians, covering a repertoire of about 60 works.  Each week’s schedule includes seven masterclass orchestra rehearsals, a symphonic concert conducted by the student conductors, and a chamber music concert produced and performed by members of the Monteux School orchestra.  Sectionals, seminars, and score study sessions are scheduled by the Music Director or Conducting Associate on an ad hoc basis.  All conductors receive podium time each week and must play in the orchestra.

Fees:  Conductors: $2,500; Instrumentalists: $1,000.  The fee includes a $100 refundable housing security deposit.

Scholarships: All violin and viola players who participate as instrumentalists will receive a full $1,000 scholarship.
