Position: Director of Orchestras. This is a one-year non-track term for the 2014-15 academic year. Responsibilities: The primary duty is to serve as the conductor of the orchestra and chamber orchestra (Symphonette). The candidate will be responsible for planning a season of two orchestra concerts each semester, participating in large departmental performance events (Christmas Vespers, Musical Showcase), overseeing the departmental Concerto/Aria competition, and planning and conducting a spring break tour with the Symphonette. Additional teaching responsibilities will depend on the background of the candidate, but may include applied lessons, conducting, chamber music, orchestration, instrumental methods, or other music courses. Qualifications: D.M.A. or PhD (completed preferred, ABD considered) in conducting or a related field. Rank: Assistant Professor. Begin: Fall, 2014.
