The 2014 Advanced Conducting Academy, June 7-21: 210 Minutes of Podium Time, Exciting Repertoire, Professional Orchestra and an Outstanding Faculty.

The International Institute for Conductors will accept up to 12 conductors for two weeks of conducting study and performance at the 15th Advanced Conducting Academy from June 7-21, 2014 in Bacau, Romania. The Institute faculty includes Robert Gutter, Conductor Emeritus, Springfield Symphony (MA) and Music Director Emeritus, Philharmonia of Greensboro; Ovidiu Balan, Music Director, Bacau Philharmonic; and Charles Gambetta, creator of the Laban inspired Embodied Conducting™ method.

Week 1 offers a choice between an emphasis on the “Classical” sized orchestra repertoire and the enormously successful “Conducting Concertos” program in which students work with soloist and orchestra on a concerto they select from an extensive list of the standard concerto repertoire. Week 2 is devoted to 19th and 20th century repertoire for large orchestra.

Participating conductors each receive 150+ minutes of podium time with full orchestra, 60 additional minutes with string quintet and piano plus daily video review sessions with faculty, weekly score study and musicianship masterclasses and daily Embodied Conducting™ instruction.

  • ·         Beethoven – Symphony No. 9
