The Assistant Conductor serves as Music Director of the Winston-Salem Symphony’s (WSS) Youth Orchestras Program and conductor of the program’s most advanced ensemble, the Youth Symphony. He/she also serves as Administrative Manager of the Youth Orchestras Program. With regard to the professional orchestra, he/she shall be responsible for covering the WSS Music Director for all services of the WSS and conducting WSS rehearsals and concerts as assigned. The Assistant Conductor serves as a community ambassador for the WSS and is a critical member of the team for planning and executing WSS artistic, education and community engagement initiatives.

Salary commensurate with experience


Following successful completion of a 90-day probationary period and in accordance with prevailing employee policies: Three weeks of annual paid vacation plus 10 paid holidays; medical, dental, short- and long-term disability insurance; life insurance equal to one-times annual salary


The Winston-Salem Symphony (WSS) is in its 67th season as one of the Southeast’s most highly regarded regional per service orchestras.
