THE UNITED STATES ARMY BAND “PERSHING’S OWN” CONDUCTORS WORKSHOP (June 23-26, 2014): Geared toward students at the collegiate and graduate level of conducting/early stages of a conducting career, The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the premier music organization of the U.S. Army, will offer this unique workshop in WASHINGTON, D.C. (Brucker Hall on Fort Myer in Arlington, VA) and provide participants conducting opportunities with The U.S. Army Concert Band, The U.S. Army Strings/Orchestra, and The U.S. Army Chorus (men’s chorus). This intensive 4-day program will include 60-minutes of podium time in front of these world-class musicians. Participants will receive a complimentary video recording of their conducting sessions for review and professional archives. Repertoire includes standard repertoire and will be provided upon acceptance. Classes will include, but are not limited to: The Profession of Conducting, The Art of Choral Conducting, Baton/Rehearsal Technique, Score Study, Video Review, Military Conducting Careers. Only eight (8) participants will be accepted; auditors are welcome to attend all sessions. Tuition is FREE; travel and accommodations are the responsibility of the participants.
