Birmingham Royal Ballet, in conjunction with Rambert, is providing a unique opportunity for a talented conductor. The scheme is designed to support an individual through the early stages of their conducting career by increasing skills through tailored training and development. It is an exclusive opportunity to experience the work of two world-class companies at first hand, and to work alongside well-established and experienced conductors in the specialised fields of dance, both classical and contemporary. 

We are looking for an ambitious candidate who is willing to take on a challenge and is keen to develop their profile within the professional conducting arena. They must possess outstanding conducting and leadership skills combined with strong people skills. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate exceptional musicianship and enthusiasm for working with musicians and dancers alike. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an audition in which they will conduct both the Royal Ballet Sinfonia and Rambert Orchestra in several set works. Scores will be provided in advance. There will also be a short interview to attend during the day and a chance to tour Rambert’s rehearsal studios.
