Job Description: Rainey Institute: El Sistema@Rainey Program Coordinator Full Time, Year-round Organization Rainey Institute provides arts education programs for children in Cleveland. Rainey has been serving this community since 1904. Rainey’s programs in music, dance, drama, and visual arts are delivered to children through an afterschool program, Saturday classes and private lessons, performing groups, teen leadership group and summer camp program. Rainey currently serves over 1,600 children per year and keeps children engaged in positive, enriching arts activities. Currently in its 4th year, El Sistema@Rainey provides 65 students daily orchestra classes based on the Venezuelan model for music education. The program runs for 90 minutes, 5 days a week after school during the school year. Students may study violin, viola, cello or string bass. Our partnership with the Cleveland Orchestra provides our students with instruments and opportunities to perform at Severance Hall. Responsibilities: •    Coordinating all aspects of the program including teaching staff, space, instruments, schedules, and activities. • Supervising all ES@R staff members •    Communicating regularly with other Rainey staff members including the Office Manager, Program Director and Executive Director •    Establishing relationships with all students and families •    Coordinating and preparing twice a month family concerts •    Maintaining positive relationships with ES@R collaborative partners •    Coordinating and overseeing off campus events •    Teaching a daily string class and overseeing the string classes of all other staff members •    Overseeing the first year orchestra •    Overseeing the orchestra portion of Rainey Camp Looking for: •    Bachelor’s degree in music education required, Master’s preferred •    Outstanding string musician •    Outstanding string educator with strong organization, communication, classroom management, and curricular design skills •    Must have the ability to lesson plan and assist others in lesson planning •    Must have the skills to teach rhythm and pitch literacy, ear training, left hand technique, a wide array of bowing technique, and concert etiquette skills •    Experience working with urban students
