Conductor’s Guild Workshop October 6-8, 2014
The Conductors Guild is proud to offer an exciting workshop with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Richmond, Virginia. This Conductor Training Workshop provides participants with the experience of conducting a professional orchestra under the guidance of faculty members Victor Yampolsky, Steven Smith and Erin Freeman. Tier 1 Participants will receive over 30 minutes of podium time conducting 2 chamber orchestra sessions and two full orchestra sessions. Tier 2 Participants will conduct the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Richmond Symphony Chorus. This workshop is packed with opportunities off the podium as well including discussions with RSO staff on topics such as building programs, marketing and development.
The goal of the Conductors Guild Training Workshops is to provide the maximum amount of specific and insightful guidance on both technical and musical matters to each attendee in a constructive, encouraging, and non-competitive environment.
The workshop is divided into three tiers:
- Tier 1 Participant: twelve core conductors who will conduct the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.
- Tier 2 Participant: eight conductors who will conduct the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra and the RSO Chorus.
- Auditor: observing attendees for whom no podium sessions will be granted.
New feature of this workshop: All applicants will receive feedback on their applications.
