An ideal candidate possesses the ability to:
Serve as music director and conductor for the Shakopee Community Education Youth Orchestra.

Lead all rehearsals for the orchestra.

Develop activities and plan for the orchestra’s annual Spring Concert.

Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and standards in youth orchestra instruction.

Maintain effective communication with members, parents, and staff.

Willingness to embrace and adhere to Shakopee School’s mission and vision.

Demonstrate the ability to develop and use multiple teaching methods which address the needs of a diverse, multicultural population.

Use knowledge of varied teaching strategies, which address retention of diverse student populations.

Have the energy and drive to help develop a first-year pilot into a thriving program.

Work with and assist students who possess a broad range of skills, motivations, and academic or vocational goals.

Job Duties include:
Attend an open house during the week of October 6, 2015

Weekly Saturday rehearsals beginning on Saturday, October 25, 2014.

Lead students through the prescribed lesson method.

Lead the Orchestra in a Spring concert currently scheduled for May 2, 2015

Minimum bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, Conducting, or Music Education, with at least two years’ experience leading an orchestra.

String player preferred.

Appropriate teaching licensure preferred.

Salary Range:
$2,500 – $3,000 depending on enrollment
