The Department of Music at Georgia College, a fully accredited member of NASM, seeks a dynamic person to lead and continue to build an orchestra program at one of the nations top public liberal arts universities. We seek a highly motivated individual who is committed to teaching, music education, research, and engaged learning within the context of a strong liberal arts environment devoted to diversity, global engagement, and the free exchange of ideas. Diversifying our curriculum geographically, temporally, and thematically is a high priority, so evidence of comparative and cross-cultural scholarship is particularly welcome. Instruct academic courses and support the department, college and university goals by supporting the academic environment for the students at the University.

Teaching/directing orchestra (string and full) and string chamber groupings
Continue to build a string/orchestra program
Teach applied strings and string methods
Other teaching duties assigned according to experience and expertise

Terminal Degree in Conducting or String Performance (ABD considered). Conducting experience.

Must meet SCACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 ( (faculty credentials))

Music Education experience, experience teaching in collegiate, high school, or youth orchestra programs, experience teaching college level applied lessons.

Hiring preference will be given to faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia Colleges mission and who are enthusiastic about working closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.

Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable. In keeping with the Universitys mission we especially encourage applicants who will further our goal of cultural, ethnic, racial, and gender diversity.
