UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA (UA) SCHOOL OF MUSIC, TUCSON

One or two positions will be available in the MM and DMA programs in orchestral and opera

conducting, beginning in August, 2015. Under the direction of Dr. Thomas Cockrell (Nelson

Riddle Endowed Chair in Music, Director of Orchestral Activities), the program features

generous performance opportunities with both School of Music orchestras and the UA Opera

Theatre. Significant responsibilities are with the UA Philharmonic (a mix of undergraduate

majors and non-majors, performing four concerts per year). Successful applicants will be

expected to have superior musicianship skills and significant experience with secondary school,

youth, or college orchestras. Graduate teaching assistantships, in addition to other financial

assistance, are available. A small number of highly qualified applicants will be invited to

audition and interview in Tucson in February or March, 2015.
