Deadline Extension: The University of Oregon School of Music and Dance has one opening for a

Graduate Teaching Fellowship in Orchestral Conducting beginning in Fall 2015 (pending final

funding approval). Prospective M.M. conducting majors or those seeking a D.M.A./PhD in any

area with strong conducting backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will

serve as the Music Director for the Campus Orchestra (non-major string orchestra), and Assistant

Conductor for the University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Camerata. Other

duties include teaching an undergraduate conducting laboratory, assisting with the annual

conducting institute, and serving on the orchestra’s staff. Generous podium time is allotted.

Recent students have been able to conduct seven to eight concerts per year between all of the

student ensembles. The culminating project includes a full concert with the top orchestra. Other

assisting opportunities may be available with professional groups in the Eugene area including,

with recent students working with the Oregon Mozart Players and Eugene Opera. For more

Qualifications:

 Undergraduate degree in music. M.M. required for D.M.A/PhD

 Significant conducting experience

 Demonstrated ability in performance on your primary instrument

 Demonstrated musical leadership with the potential to lead a premiere university orchestra

with artistry.

 Strong organizational skills
