LONDON, UK: 9-10 MAY 2015

An intensive and positive weekend conducting course working on a carefully chosen range of string orchestra music, with the professional orchestra South London Sinfonietta.

• Being comfortable with the string section is vital – they are the ones closest to the conductor, and pretty much surround him/her!
• This is a great opportunity for non-string playing conductors to gain valuable experience and knowledge – have your questions ready!
• Come and hone your technique in the company of a professional London orchestra!

A maximum of 6 participants ensures you get plenty of podium time (at least 90 minutes). Each person receives help and advice appropriate to their skill and experience. Students can opt to work on all or just a part of the repertoire list. We work in depth on relatively small amounts of repertoire. On the Saturday we work with a professional pianist in preparation for the orchestra on the Sunday.

This course is not suitable for beginners, but observers are welcome (observers can opt to have a short session at conducting one of the pieces with the orchestra).

Languages: English and Italian. It may also be possible to accommodate German and French speakers – please enquire.

Cost: £340 (£280 unwaged, £170 observer)

Email with details of your conducting experience and also state why you would like to do the course. If you can provide a link to a video example of your conducting that would be useful, but is not essential.
