NYSAE Seeks New Music Director

The New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble (NYSAE) announces interviews/auditions for Music Director. The Music Director is a volunteer position and reports to the NYSAE Board of Directors. The position will begin with the 2015-2016 season.

NYSAE is a volunteer community orchestra based on New York’s Upper East Side that performs five concerts each season. Its mission is twofold: to provide performance opportunities for talented amateur musicians and to present high-quality programming for the local audience so that everyone can experience the live performance of great music. Founded in 1988, the orchestra has performed a wide range of the symphonic and operatic repertoire, including music not often attempted by volunteer players, such as lesser-known works and contemporary compositions.

Featured soloists have included members of the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, City Opera, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, as well as young virtuosi from the local conservatories. Always looking to expand its musical horizons, the 2013-14 season featured a 25th Anniversary Gala concert performance of the Verdi Requiem and a collaboration with Courtney’s Stars of Tomorrow for a performance of operatic overtures, excerpts and arias.

Deadline for submission is January 15, 2015.
