Conducting Stravinsky Workshop at CCM
April 24-26, 2015
Application deadline February 28, 2015.
Now in its eighth year, the CCM Orchestral Conducting Workshop offers an exciting and unique opportunity to explore two of the three pivotal ballets by Russian master IGOR STRAVINSKY. Participants will have the opportunity to work with CCM’s top-flight orchestras, the Philharmonia and Concert Orchestra, on these iconic monuments of the 20th century. Maestros Mark Gibson and Neil Varon will explore the rhythmic, sonic and metric complexities of these masterpieces with participants, apprentices and auditors from around the world.
Participants are guaranteed 80 minutes of time with ensembles; they may choose either one or both of the ballets to focus on. Apprentices will have 24 minutes with ensembles. A Friday morning session will provide an opportunity for participants to work with two pianos in preparation for the sessions. There will also be opportunities for breakfasts and open discussion about the repertoire and about conducting issues with Mos. Gibson and Varon.
