Position: Director of Performing Arts. Responsibilities: Seeking a visionary and dynamic arts educator, musician with a focus on string instruments, and administrator to inaugurate the Director of Performing Arts position. The Director will develop the program, chair the performing arts department, conduct ensembles and teach music. With the planned opening of a beautiful arts center in the fall of 2015, the School is committed to a vibrant and expansive program that provides all students with opportunities to learn and to perform in the areas of music, drama and dance. State of the art spaces and facilities will support programs and enable the school to expand and build an instrumental program and incorporate dance. These will join a general music and choral program, as well as a strong drama program that includes curricular and co-curricular offerings. Qualifications: Commitment to teaching students in the 5-12 grade range. Experience in arts administration. BM in instrumental music and/or conducting. MMusic preferred. Demonstrated excellence as ensemble leader and instrumentalist (preferably string). Experience in program development. Attributes: Demonstrated leadership experience and/or capability. Collegial manner and ability to work with many constituents. Flexible and able to listen and manage competing priorities. Ability to engage and encourage students. Ability to envision and design and creatively engage with the city arts institutions and resources. Highly organized, able to manage and juggle multiple tasks. Begin: July 15, 2015.
