Primary responsibility will be conducting the university’s Symphony Orchestra. Other assignments in the instrumental area are possible based on the candidate’s experience.


Artist/teacher with a specialty in orchestral conducting. A Masters Degree is preferred or commensurate experience. The candidate will possess a strong, current record of conducting orchestras and be able to demonstrate the ability to program, manage, effectively rehearse and recruit for a university orchestra. Candidate must successfully complete the interview process and conducting demonstration to be considered a finalist.


The School of Music is a part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts with approximately 1000 students and 100 faculty in music, art, theatre and dance. The School of Music enjoys full NASM membership and offers fully accredited degrees in Music Education, Theory and Composition, Music History and Music Performance on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
