ANNOUNCEMENT OF MUSIC FACULTY POSITION (POSTED 3/5/2015):
Goshen College seeks a dynamic and visionary instrumental conductor to join its music faculty for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2015. The candidate of choice will conduct the Goshen College Symphony Orchestra. Depending on the individual’s qualifications and departmental needs, other possible assignments include directing the All-Campus Band, teaching music education courses, supervising student teachers, and applied teaching in area of expertise. We are beginning an El Sistema initiative in partnership with Longy School of Music, Boston and LA, and particularly invite applications from candidates with El Sistema experience or interest, a passion for outreach to area schools, and a belief in music education as a powerful tool for social change.
Other responsibilities: demonstrate commitment to professional growth; develop and maintain a regional and national profile within the profession; recruit energetically; serve on committees; advise students, including possible student chapter NAfME sponsorship.
Doctorate in Conducting or Music Education (or ABD) preferred; other exceptional experiences considered. A completed doctorate is required for tenure. A commitment to working with students in a liberal arts setting, strong musicianship and conducting skills, experience teaching music at the elementary and/or secondary levels. Candidates must be committed to the mission and core values of Goshen College.
DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC
The Goshen College Department of Music is housed within the state-of-the-art Music Center, which has renowned acoustics in its 260-seat recital hall, 1000-seat concert hall, as well as excellent studios, practice rooms, and rehearsal rooms. The Music Center is hailed by many as the premiere performance and music teaching facility in the area.
