Anticipated Opening

0.4FTE High School Orchestra Conductor. Position involves teaching two string orchestras, each meeting five times within a seven-day rotating schedule. Rehearsals for the two orchestras take place between 7:30 AM and 10:40 AM.

Symphonia is an unauditioned string orchestra. Chamber Orchestra is an auditioned string orchestra. Opportunities for adding winds and percussion are available. Students from both orchestras are accepted each year into District and All State Festivals. These orchestras participate annually in the MICCA Festival.

• Advanced performance ability on at least one string instrument
• Well versed in pedagogy for all string instruments
• Successful experience conducting high school orchestra
• Refined orchestral conducting technique
• Extensive knowledge of repertoire for both string and full orchestra
• Commitment to the vertical string feeder program and active participation with string
colleagues in recruitment activities
• Proven ability to engage, support, encourage, and relate energetically to adolescent
