The Los Angeles Conducting Institute, in collaboration with The San Diego State University, is pleased to announce the 2015 Conducting Workshop. The highly anticipated workshop will be led by Kenneth Kiesler, a GRAMMY® nominated conductor and one of the world’s most sought after and highly regarded teachers and mentors of conductors.

 

Maestro Kiesler is the Director of Orchestras at the University of Michigan, renowned for its orchestral conducting program. Maestro Kiesler is one of the world’s most highly sought after and respected conducting mentors. He has led conducting masterclasses in New York, Houston, Chicago, Paris, Moscow, Vilnius, Leipzig, Berlin, Mexico City, London and São Paulo, as well as at the Waterville Valley Music Center (New Hampshire) and the Conductors Retreat at Medomak (Maine), now in its 19th year. 

 

He has served as director of the Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra Conducting Program, and the Academy for Conductors of the Chamber Orchestra of Paris. His students have won top prizes in such international competitions as the Maazel (Carnegie Hall), Mata (Mexico City), Malko (Denmark), and Donatella Flick (London Symphony Orchestra), and hold positions at dozens of major orchestras and opera companies internationally.

 

Conductors of all ages are welcome to apply for this opportunity to study with Maestro Kiesler, and conduct an all-professional orchestra in a weeklong workshop culminating in a final concert. The masterclass will focus on rehearsing and performing as well as aspects of leadership, conducting technique, score study and analysis.

 

Fellows and Associates will work with full orchestra and string quintet.  Fellows will conduct the final concert.

– Elgar – Enigma Variations

– Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, with soloists and chorus

 

• Participants

– Fellows  (12) – $2,500.

– Associates (8) – $1,500.

– Auditors – $750.

– Application Fee – $50. Non-refundable

– The 12 Fellow conductors will conduct in the final concert.
