Pasadena City College is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Music-Orchestra/Music Instructor commencing with the 2015-2016 academic yea.

Teach and conduct the College Symphony Orchestra.
Teach instrumental techniques courses in the instructor’s area(s) as of expertise.
Coordinate the chamber music program and coach ensembles.
Maintain close contact with high schools within and adjacent to the PCC District for recruiting and mutual program support.
Develop and lead recruitment activities to bring students into the instrumental music program.
Coordinate an annual student concerto competition and perform a concert with the winner(s).
Teach Music Appreciation or other music courses consistent with the applicant’s expertise.
Work closely with other faculty members to maintain a collegial and collaborative music department.
Participate in the evaluation, revision, and development of the curriculum.
Participate with faculty to develop and assess Student Learning Outcomes. Use the results to improve teaching and learning.
Undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a regular faculty member including college governance, committee service and/or other appropriate activities.

Master’s degree in music. OR
Bachelor’s degree in music AND a Master’s degree in humanities.
A valid California Community College Instructor Credential.
The equivalent. (Degree must be shown as conferred on transcript. Some degrees may require equivalency. It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide documentation to support equivalent qualifications.)
Ability to work in a multiethnic environment with students who have a variety of learning styles and abilities.

A minimum of three years of teaching experience with a high school or college orchestra program.
Professional performance experience as conductor and/or instrumentalist.
Proven success in recruiting music students.
