The Core Conductors program is designed for musicians aspiring to a career conducting orchestras around the world. Following a recent review of the program some exciting changes will be implemented for 2016 and beyond. These changes have been made in order to identify the very best talent and those with the potential to one day stand in front of the Australian orchestras and on the international stage. Resources and training will be focused on these individuals to enhance their development and assist in fostering and nurturing good relationships with the orchestras. Fewer conductors will be selected to participate in the program which will continue over a two-year period (2016/17 in the first instance) and will consist of a variety of training and professional development activities including traditional teaching modules, masterclasses, assisting visiting or chief conductors, showcases, concerts and other opportunities.
Participants will be selected through a three stage process of Application, National Auditions and Summer School auditions. Applications for the 2016/17 program are now open and should be submitted on our Applications page. You will find the link to this page at the bottom of the drop down menu on the left.
All the details and important dates relating to the program can be found in the brochure here.
