The Tsilumos Ensemble is pleased to announce the 2015 SALT New Music Festival and Symposium.

The SALT New Music Festival and Symposium is a one-week event occurring from July 23rd to July 27, 2015 at Open Space and at the University of Victoria School of Music in Victoria, BC, Canada.  The event is created, organized and hosted by the Tsilumos Ensemble (Victoria, BC) which is pleased to collaborate with the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Neue Vocalsolisten (Stuttgart, Germany), flautist/composer Sylvie Lacroix (Vienna, Austria) Cathy Lewis (Victoria, BC), Kirk McNally (Victoria, BC), Marie-Chantal Leclair and Jean-Marc Bouchard (Montréal, QC). New works by Canadian and international composers Charles-Antoine Fréchette (Montreal, QC), Annesley Black (Ottawa, ON), Dániel Péter Biró (Victoria, BC), Georg Friedrich Haas (New York), and Samir Odeh Tamimi (Israel/Germany) will be presented in the program.

The 2015 SALT Festival and Symposium offers a series of concerts, lectures, colloquia and masterclasses. Students of contemporary music from Canada and around the world are invited to apply to the program. Selected students will be given the chance to take part in lessons in composition, electronic music, conducting and contemporary music interpretation as well as in reading sessions with Samir Odeh Tamimi, Annesley Black, Dániel Péter Biró, Kirk McNally, Tsilumos Ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, flautist Sylvie Lacroix, soprano Cathy Lewis, and members of the Quasar Saxophone Quartet. All lectures, colloquia, reading sessions and masterclasses at the SALT Festival and Symposium are free of charge and open to the general public.

The 2015 SALT Festival and Symposium has received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts and theErnst von Siemens Foundation for Music.
