U of Toronto Choral Conducting Symposium Participant Deadline is June 1

U of Toronto Choral Conducting Symposium Participant Deadline is June 1
We look forward to welcoming participants from Canada and the U.S. to our annual conducting symposium July 6 – 10, 2015.  Choral directors of school, church and community choirs, as well as undergraduate and graduate students are welcome.  Dr. Mark Sirett, known for his stellar work with children’s and youth choirs, as well as his excellent choral compositions, is our guest clinician and will conduct daily rehearsals with all attendees.   He will also present sessions on strategies for teaching young singers.
Other faculty include Dr. Lori Dolloff, whose interest in world music infuses her excellent “morning sing” sessions, and who also guides intermediate level conductors; soprano Elizabeth MacDonald, whose individual voice consults are always very popular; Dr. Emily Martin, from Bucknell University, who incorporates gentle yoga in teaching singers and conductors.  (No floor mats required!)  The conducting master class with Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt is filled but will be open to observers on Thursday.
Bill LaBron, owner of Music Plus, will be on site for two days with current materials for perusal and sale: choral music, reference books, audio-visual materials.
Come to Toronto to be inspired and rejuvenated, meet new friends and colleagues, and leave with a toolbox of ideas and materials to put to use as soon as you are ready!   We end at noon on Friday, July 10, so those of you travelling can arrange to be on your way by early afternoon.
Applications must be RECEIVED by Monday, June 1.
