Description: Responsibilities include conducting the Minot Symphony Orchestra, a 75 member university/community ensemble, and teaching other courses in related areas as determined by qualifications and institutional needs. Other duties include taking a lead role in music student recruitment efforts. The Orchestra Director is expected to maintain a high level of professional visibility and show leadership with public school music educators and regional orchestral activities.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Music preferred, ABD will be considered. Demonstrated success in conducting and maintaining a comprehensive orchestra program is required. The successful candidate will also show evidence of significant musical, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, participate in faculty governance and collegial activities of the Division of Music and university, maintain a rigorous professional profile and a strong commitment to Music Education.

Starting Date: August 2015.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education.

This year marks the 90th season of the Minot Symphony Orchestra. It stands as a leading organization in the arts community across the Great Plains. With a five-concert season, the orchestra plays to a fully subscribed audience in MSU’s newly renovated Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. Concerts frequently feature regional and nationally acclaimed soloists. The MSO enjoys the musical expertise of eight music faculty, more than twenty area professional musicians and educators and a rich combination of MSU music students and community members.
