Lior Shambadal (IL) (Music Director of the Berliner Symphoniker) Berlin Sinfonietta Conducting Intensive October 7th – 9th 2015, Berlin After the great success of the first “Conducting Intensive”, IMB and Maestro Lior Shambadal are happy to present the new concept and opportunity for advanced conductors again this coming October”.

This new concept is ideal for advanced orchestral conductors who are seeking to develop and further their rehearsing technique and are in the need for longer practical sessions with a professional orchestra, accompanied by a prominent conductor like Maestro Shambadal in an intimate, almost one on one, atmosphere. This intensive will spread on 3 days only. Intensive lessons with Maestro Shambadal will be held as well as two 4 hours long orchestra rehearsals. The Conducting Intensive is strictly limited to four active participants. By that longer and thorough sessions for each participant in front of the orchestra with no time stress or pressure are ensured. Each one of the four conductors will select one piece* that he/she would like to work on with the maestro. After the four pieces will be chosen, the four participants will be given the list of the pieces that will consist the program for the Conducting Intensive. Each conductor can choose if he/she would like to focus only on his/her piece of choice, or to work on other pieces from the program. We warmly recommend to come prepared for the whole program. The orchestra size at the Conducting Intensive’s disposal is: 2Fl, 2Ob, 2Kl, 2Fg 2Hn 2Tr 1Tp; Str. Since the main idea behind the Conducting Intensive is to advance and to master the art of rehearsing an orchestra, a final concert will not be held as in the usual IMB masterclasses. The rehearsals will be under the attentive supervision and the guidance of Maestro Shambadal in a highly supportive, noncompetitive, and above all, most hospices environment. All the conducting sessions will be filmed in HD HQ sound, and given to the conductors on an IMB 8GB USB stick together with a signed certificate of participation.

The Berlin Sinfonietta took part in many masterclasses for conductors in Berlin led by the most important conducting mentors of our time like Jorma Panula and Kenneth Kiesler, Lior Shambadal and Colin Metters to name a few. The orchestra plays an important role in the developing of a new generation of professional conductors. The working atmosphere with the Berlin SInfonietta is extremely professional, friendly, and supportive, and has always been very rewarding to the participants in these courses. The four participants will be chosen personally by Maestro Shambadal. Passive participation in The Conducting Intensive is excluded, ensuring a small, intimate group and longer time with the teacher and the orchestra. Application is possible until Maestro Shambadal will choose the four conductors.

One of the main reasons that led us towards this sort of a short – intensive format, is to allow also conductors who often cannot come to a masterclass, and leave their musical and personal obligations for a long period of a time (usually a masterclass lasts at least 6 days) the opportunity to learn from teachers who regularly leads full masterclasses. We have planned the schedule in such a way that will make it possible for the conductors to arrive on the first day of the class, and leave on the last day and by that to save time and accommodation costs.

The price for the Conducing Intensive is 1950 EUR (All taxes included) In order to guarantee your place (after invitation) it is required to transfer a deposit of 650 EUR. The rest of the payment can be divided into two or more installments, and should be fully paid by September 15th 2015. Please know that your place in guaranteed only after transferring a deposit.
