Conduct the OSU Symphony Orchestra, including all administrative responsibilities. Serve as coordinator of string area, including scholarship budget oversight and organization of recruitment efforts in cooperation with string studio faculty. Establish and maintain a strong positive rapport with public school teachers in the state and region. Additional teaching assignments will be made according to the successful candidate’s expertise and may include undergraduate and graduate level courses in conducting, repertoire, or music education as needed. In addition to instructional assignments, all music faculty are expected to be productive as scholars/artists and to engage in departmental, university and professional service.

Master’s Degree required. Doctorate degree preferred. Candidates without doctorate must document equivalent experience and expertise. Evidence of successful conducting and recruiting experience at the university level required. Evidence of professional orchestral conducting experience is desirable. Background in string music education/pedagogy or public school teaching will be viewed positively.

Beginning date is August 15, 2016. Salary and rank negotiable, dependent on qualifications and contingent upon funding availability.
