Position Qualifications/Responsibilities

Position Qualifications – Responsibilities: The School of Music at Kennesaw State University (KSU) is now accepting applications for a full-time, benefits eligible, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music-Director of Orchestral Studies/Music Director. Responsibilities will require teaching, scholarship, and service to the university with administration and oversight of the orchestral program, which includes conducting the Symphony Orchestra, collaboration with opera and musical theater, and teaching courses as needed and assigned according to the candidate’s expertise.

In light of KSU’s location in the vibrant Atlanta metropolitan area, many of the KSU School of Music applied faculty serve as performers and principal players with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Opera and Atlanta Ballet. In addition, collaborations and master classes occur frequently with our students and guest artists with these major arts organizations.

Required Education – Experience – Skills (Minimum Qualifications): Candidates must have an appropriate terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, or professional experience, training, and or ability, equivalent to the same. Candidates must possess expertise in orchestral conducting, opera, and musical theater. A record of successful collegiate teaching experience, recruitment, and collaboration is required.
