For the first time the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY is offering a three-week-long Conducting Fellowship which invites three to four talented young conductors to become a part of the whole LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY experience. The selected conductors will be able to attend all rehearsals led by such conductors as Matthias Pintscher, Susanna Mälkki, and Alan Gilbert and can join our Assistant Conductors in their daily work. They will also be part of the Composer Seminar with Wolfgang Rihm whenever there is a need to conduct new scores and, in the third week, they will have the chance to conduct the Orchestra of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY under the supervision of Alan Gilbert.

Profile of Participants
– Advanced conducting students and professional conductors
– Age limit: 30
– Language in which the course will be taught: English

Documents to be submitted (all documents can be submitted online)
– Application form (online)
– video of a performance/rehearsal of two different works, of which one should represent the era of the 20th and 21st centuries (if possible, please send a YouTube link)
– Curriculum vitae in English (maximum of two pages)
– Photo
– List of works already conducted

The course management will decide on active participation upon receipt of the registration forms and DVD recordings. The results of the selections will be announced by the end of March/middle of April 2016. There is no right of legal appeal. No correspondence will be conducted regarding the decisions.

Course fee
There is no fee for active participation
Course fee for auditors: CHF 30 for each day / CHF 120 complete course

The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will cover the travel expenses for each active participant.

LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will arrange and cover the costs of accommodation for each active participant.

Each active participant will receive a per diem for meals.

Each participant must provide his/her own scores.
