St. PCP Eighth International Masterclass in orchestral conducting
“European Masterworks” with Mark Stringer, May 23 – 27, 2016.
The St. PCP welcomes back Mark Stringer, who regularly appears on the St.PCP’s distinguished list of guest masterclass teachers, in a class of European masterworks. This class represents a rare opportunity for 8 young conductors from all over the world to study three musical pillars of the repertoire by Elgar, Brahms and Mozart in the Cultural Capital of Russia.
Four days of classes and a final concert, May 23 – 27, 2016. In order to maximize podium time, the class is limited to only 8 advanced participants (and up to 4 observers) who will be invited to work with Maestro Mark Stringer. The workshop will include score study sessions, conducting sessions with two pianos, conducting sessions with the orchestra, a special session for auditors and a final concert. The students of the class will be featured on the final concert as part of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic’s 2015-2016 concert season. Each participant will receive significant podium time with two pianos and with the orchestra, as well as a certificate of participation.
Elgar: String Serenade
Brahms: Violin Concerto
Mozart “Jupiter” Symphony #41 K 551
Please visit the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic website for further details, including application fees, procedures, tuition information, and requirements.
