Serve as Conductor and Music Director of the Joliet Symphony Orchestra, and teach music and conducting courses

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform as Conductor and Music Director of the Joliet Symphony Orchestra

Teach applied music; conducting; a Foundations Course, and other music courses as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in Music or Music Education

Experience conducting university level orchestra, or community orchestra

Professional performing experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Collaborative working skills

Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the University

Preferred Requirements
D.M.A. in Conducting or Applied Piano Performance

Experience in professional piano accompanying

Documented experience in building a community orchestra

Collaborative piano performance experience

Experience in teaching college-level conducting courses

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
This position is full-time, August to May, and will be tenure-track for qualified candidates. We offer a competitive compensation and generous benefit package.

Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in classroom, auditorium and office settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. This position requires the ability to work on campus, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, read music notation and full orchestral scores, play the piano, and perform Orchestral Conducting using a baton.
