Orchestra Director – Kutztown University
The Department of Music at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position beginning Fall 2016 for an Orchestra Director. The department seeks candidates with proven success in student recruitment, experience teaching a stringed instrument – particularly violin and/or viola – and conducting, with other duties assigned according to departmental needs. Required: ABD in Music, Music Performance, or closely related field with awarding of doctorate within one year of hire; doctorate preferred.
Successful interview and demonstration of teaching, conducting, and playing ability will be required. The successful candidate will be required to effectively engage in Department of Music recruiting efforts and maintain a strong rapport with public school teachers throughout the state and region through on- and off-campus activities. Review of applications will begin Jan. 15, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled.
