ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR: Fort Wayne Philharmonic
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Conductor reports to, and works closely with the Music Director. S/he will act as cover conductor for all classical concerts and moderate pre-concert lectures. The Assistant Conductor will be responsible for programming and conducting concerts as assigned including pops, family, ballet and education programs. This position is a 2 year appointment with the option for a 1 year extension.
This position requires excellent musicianship and conducting skills. A Master’s degree in orchestral conducting or equivalent experience is required. Qualified candidates will possess and convey their passion for music to both the orchestra and the audience. The candidate must have a broad knowledge of repertoire and a desire to program and conduct concerts encompassing a variety of musical genres.
